Description

The Blue Water Volleygrass Festival is an annual grass court 4 on 4 volleyball tournament. Volleygrass is held each year during the last weekend of July, and is host to over 200 teams of every age and skill level. No matter your experience with the game of volleyball, we have a division and a fun filled weekend available for you.

Friday Co-Ed Tournament Format

All games are played 4-on-4
Bracket/pool info available via the Exposure Events App.
Report match results to your division’s Volleyboss.
Rally scoring for all matches.
Divisions and matchups may be adjusted to maximize play.
Format is subject to change by Tournament Directors.
 
Friday Officiating & Scoring
Teams call their own games.
Each team must supply a scorekeeper.
Winning teams must report scores to the Volleyboss at your division table immediately after each match.
** Failure to report scores may result in delays or disqualification.

Saturday Division Tournamnet Format
All play is 4-on-4.
Pool/bracket info available on the Exposure App.
Contact your division Volleyboss to confirm round results.
All games use rally scoring.
Teams may be reassigned to other divisions to optimize play.
 
Saturday Division Match Guidelines
Formats vary by division; check your pool/bracket for details.
Switch sides at team discretion
Two (1-minute) timeouts per game.
Tiebreakers: Head-to-Head, Score Differential, Volleyboss Decision

Saturday Officiating Responsibilities 
Each team is responsible for: 
1 Net Judge, 2 line judges and 1 scorekeeper

Important Registration Rules: 

Co-Ed Division teams MUST have a minimum of 2 women on court at all times. Maximum 6 players per roster. For players with entry level skills. Co-Ed is the only division that allows 6 players on their roster. 

Men/Women/Girls Divsion teams can ONLY have a Maximum 5 players on their  roster. DO NOT register 6 players in this division category. 

Girls Division Teams MUST register using the graduation year of their oldest grade-level player. For example, if three players are 2029 and one player is 2028, the team must register in the 2028 division. Teams that misrepresent graduation year information during registration or violate the integrity policy in any way will be disqualified from the tournament.

TEAM CHECK IN 
A team representative must check in your team before play can begin. They will need to know their division and team name, turn in a completed waiver and have t-shirt sizes for their teammates in order to check in. 

VOLLEYGRASS RULES 
Blue Water Volleygrass rules are listed below. All players are required to sign the tournament waiver (parent or guardian signature required for attendees under 18) and turn in to event registration prior to play. A copy of the waiver is available for download under the documents tab, and a copy will also be available for signature at event check in if not completed in advance. Please note that rules and format may be subject to change. Any changes will be noted and communicated prior to tournament time to ensure that all participants are aware and able to comply.

All games will be played with the Official VOLLEYGRASS game balls provided.
NO open hand tips (closed fist or backhand hits allowed). Clean contact open hand allowed
When setting the ball over the net, you do not have to be square to the net.
Double contact is allowed on any attacked ball.
Contact with the net is a violation. Breaking plane of the net below the net is not a violation unless there is interference with the opposing team.
All adjacent courts are out of bounds.
NO blocking or attacking serves. Setting the serve is allowed.
“LET” serve is allowed.
Rotation of servers is required. Rotation of positions on court is ​not required.
Play is 4 on 4, There is no minimum limit on the number of players.
Teams attempting to play unregistered, unsigned players will be immediately disqualified from play.
Bare feet, soft soled shoes or grass volleyball shoes only. NO CLEATS.
Decisions of the Volley Bosses are ​final​, EVEN if in conflict with the rules!
This Volleyball tournament is a festival and your efforts to maintain a clean and fun atmosphere will be greatly appreciated.
NO pets or smoking allowed.
Any body contact is considered a valid play.
For Co-Ed divisions, at least 2 women must be on the court at all times.
Please pay attention to your schedule to ensure proper pace of play!
